The LMS standard SCORM may have been "disrupted"
this summer with the launch of the Tin Can API (http://scorm.com/tincan/). This is a
next-generation e-learning specification, where learner activities exist
outside the LMS. Tin Can is based on the premise that learning happens
everywhere, and the http://tincanapi.com/
records activities and delivers data that is quantifiable, sharable, and
trackable.
I first heard about Tin Can this summer at mLearnCon:
The Tappestry mobile app (https://www.tappestryapp.com/) uses
Tin Can and is an example of how people can connect their learning experiences
to others.
This will be interesting to watch, and even more exciting to
be a part of.
Maybe you could add the video here--I thought that was pretty interesting to see in the meeting. :D
