New: Airplay Mirroring to Apple TV - No Network Needed!

Good news for those of you who want to project your iPad untethered in the classroom without specialized software or a functioning ARC Instruct network.
With iOS 8, you can wirelessly connect an iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch to Apple TV without first connecting to the organization’s network. You can present or share your work even if you’re offline or the organization has a complex network.

You can test this in the ITC Training Room with one of the iPads in our cart.

Requirements

1.       iPhone 5 or later, iPad (3rd generation or later), iPad mini, or iPod touch (5th generation) using iOS 8 or later.
Note: Those of you who are using an iPad from the Initiative have older iPads which won’t work :-(
2.       Apple TV (3rd generation rev A, model A1469 or later) with Apple TV software 7.0 or later. The mobile device must stay within approximately 30 feet of the Apple TV.
Note: the ITC has a few newer models that you can borrow if you wish to experiment

Getting connected

1.      Ensure the Apple TV is on, and the projector is using the correct input.
2.      Swipe up from the bottom of your screen to access Control Center.
3.      Make sure the Bluetooth and wireless antennas are enabled.
4.    Tap AirPlay.
5.      Select Apple TV, wait for the checkmark to appear, then turn on Mirroring.
